Warhammer 40,000: Space Marines - Black Templars

“The Emperor’s realm must be cleansed of the taint of the xenos
and the heretic. We destroy the former by the sword, we shall
destroy the latter through faith and the sword.”
Dreadnought Gerlach to the warriors of the Donorian Crusade

In the grim darkness of the 41st millennium, Mankind is asailed on all fronts by perfidious aliens, degenerate traitors and treacherous rebels. To fight them is the destiny of the Space Marines of the Black Templars, fearless champions and unforgiving crusaders against the enemies of the Emperor. Forged from the Imperial Fists Space Marines in the aftermath of the Horus Heresy, the Black Templars have undertaken the longest crusade the Imperium has ever known to prove their loyalty.

Blurb from Codex Black Templars.

Army Information / Updates:

My Black Templar force began with the Armageddon Campaign run by Games Workshop. These campaigns are always a great excuse to start a new army and really get involved in the action, so I had a quick read through the book and decided on Salamanders.

What? But I thought you said Black Templar’s? I did, but almost half of my current Black Templar’s have a dark green secret beneath their black exterior. They were Salamanders for almost 3 months.

I was torn between Salamanders and Black Templar’s from the moment I picked up the Armageddon Codex. Both Chapters had great storylines and cool colour schemes and it was really hard to choose one over the other. I initially went with Salamanders as I wanted a change from my Blood Angels, who were primarily geared towards assaulting.

But after making a start and playing a few test games, I found that the Black Templar's pre-battle oath along with the mixture of Initiates and Neophytes made them different enough anyway. So I had a bit of a rethink and my Black Templar’s crusade was born!

This army has been on hold for a bit while I've been working on my Blood Angels again, but I've still got a few plans in the pipeline for them. I'd like to get a few of the Black Templar accessory sprues to try and add a bit more zeal to my force and the Forge World Black Templar Dreadnought looks awesome.

Too much cool stuff, too little time.
