Warhammer 40,000: Eldar

“The star themselves once lived and dies at our
command, and yet you still dare oppose our will.”

Farseer Mirehn Biellann

The Eldar craftworlds – massive drifting starships that are home to the last survivors of a race that once ruled the galaxy – are scattered across the stars. Now the Eldar teeter upon the precipice of annihilation and must battle constantly against the other races of the galaxy, even resorting to piracy in their fight to avoid extinction.

Blurb from Codex Eldar.

Army Information / Updates:

“Their arrogance is matched
only by their firepower.”

This quote is from the spine of an old Eldar Codex and for me it sums the race up perfectly. The Eldar were the second 40k army to join my collection. I was quite sold on the idea of a Dark Angels army, but I already had a Blood Angels force so I decided that starting another Space Marine Chapter would have to wait.

Way back in the Rogue Trader era when my army started out there weren’t a lot of figures about for the Eldar. As far as I can remember everything that was available was metal too, with no big plastic kits to give your force a leg up. At the age of 12 I was heavily reliant on my Mum to fund the war effort, so it took me around 6 months to get an army I could have a proper battle with.

With a lot of my other forces I’ve tended to retire a lot of the older figures in my collection to display model status, while the vast majority of my vintage Eldar are still in my army today!

My current plans for this force are largely dependant on what paint scheme I decide on. My old Guardians (with the plug in gun) were painted in an Saim Han scheme, but I wasn’t very keen on these figures so I decided to donate them to a less fussy friend in favour of the new more dynamic models. This has left me free to choose a new Craftworld for the army to call home and a range of expansion possibilities.
